A visit from the amazing Doctor Daniel!!
Picture
Dr. Daniel is a pediatrician who came to answer our questions about the human body today.  She was incredibly helpful in our investigation, especially when it came to "Pam", our miniature model of the human body.  The children had already brainstormed some questions earlier in the week and were excited to ask her at morning meeting.  Read an excerpt below...

Palmer: Doctor Daniel... Why do you have to do exercise?
Dr Daniel: Who has muscles? This is a strong class for sure.  Our heart is actually a special type of muscle, and it's responsible for getting blood everywhere in our body that needs blood. In order for your heart to get strong just like your muscles do, that's what exercise does, it helps your heart get strong.
Cannon:  Why do you drink juice when you're sick?
Oliver: When you're coughing you drink juice.
Dr Daniel: You don't HAVE to drink juice when you're sick, but sometimes it makes you feel better.  Sometimes if the juice is orange juice, it helps get some of the yucky mucus out of your throat.
Evelyn: What about... medicine?
Dr Daniel: Sometimes you might take medicine if you have an ear infection, or a fever.  You don't have to take medicine every day, but if your body needs help feeling better, then medicine can help.

Jam day two
...was a major success.  We left the strawberries overnight in a mixture of lemon juice and sugar.  First we re-watched the recipe video to find out exactly what will happen to happen to the mixture on the stove.
Maren: It looks so jelly-ish. It's dark pink. Wooooah.
Alexandra:  It's magic!
Maren: Yeah, cause it's turning black.  It's so hilarious.

We brought the mixture downstairs to the kitchen to stir, stir, stir!!
Melanie:  Will we be able to try some of the jam?
Palmer: No! It's all for the fairies.
Melanie: Why do they love jam so much?
Grace:  They love red.  Tomorrow the fairies will really come to school.

Tomorrow we'll put it in a jar and leave some for the fairies... And we'll eat just a little bit for snack.  Here is the recipe if you care to try it sometime,  www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5LhDkAfxA8

In the slideshow below, see several other moments from our day, including some work we've been doing on a new fairy house made of cardboard and tape.
