It was a VERY busy day in the Tucker Rooms! We're excited to share a bit of it with you here and provide more details during our upcoming Classroom Stories Night. POD B Fletcher shared his Memory Box this morning. His peers were very interested! Aida: I like the pom-poms. Oliver: I like the cube that Fletcher has. (a mini Rubik's cube in the back left corner) Of the photograph, Fletcher noted: That was the day we were going into the forest. Of the mini pin from the Maryland State Trooper Fletcher remembered: This was when we got our new RV. Grace noticed the Rodriguez Kids sticker: That's Fletcher, Violet and Pierce. And Fletcher pointed out the popcorn kernels above the sticker: Those are for making popcorn. The main project work in Pod B was ice cream making! It connects to the dramatic play in the store. The two flavors the groups worked on were carrot and blueberry. This work will continue tomorrow - it's a process! Children also worked on creating beads from Sculpey. Sculpey is an "oven-bake" clay-like material. Pod A The work in Pod A was really focused on leaves. One small group went for a neighborhood walk to collect leaves and then brought them back to create digital compositions. The children that didn't do this small group today will have the opportunity on Thursday. While we were outside, the group took time to also notice leaves that they couldn't collect. We opted to photograph them instead. Once inside the children worked to create compositions and photograph them. The compositions turned out beautifully! Here are some examples. Leaves where everywhere in our environment today. Some children who didn't walk in the neighborhood worked on challenging clay coil leaves. Each child took a slightly different approach and made different connections to our big ideas as they formed leaves.
