Preparing our Environment: Paint MixingBoth groups enthusiastically mixed paints and used them today. Here's bit of the conversation as they worked: Dakota - It's looking like a caterpillar. It's dark green. (Adding red) Now it looks like fire. Gigi - I'll use red and blue. Maybe it will make purple. (Using her paint) I'm going to make a sunset right here. Nora - I'm going to mix purple. (A bit later, painting with all of the colors) I was making a green slipper. In Tucker B, children created nearly the same color.... an murky purple. Andy - It's violet. Aida - It's black. Sewing!Tucker B children were excited to see a sewing machine in their classroom. Olivia started sewing and worked with speed and precision. Grace made plans for possible purses, or dresses. Aida was interested in making a dress for his bunny, Hop Hop.
Grace - (Thinking about the purses) We need two fabrics for each person. Andy - (Quickly making some calculations) We need ten (5 children were present today). And two (for Oliver, who wasn't present). Sewing and math on the first day! We can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!
