Wow! April already? This year has flown by!

Speaking of flying by, our ocean mural project seems to be doing the same! Today CC and George painted the skyline using paint Lochie had mixed earlier in the week. As they worked to fill the canvas, they shared the following conversation:

CC: It’s turning so white!
George: I need more white
CC: George’s is a little bit more sky color
George: Look, I connected on to CC’s.
CC: Yeah, connect it!
George: I wish there was a machine that could do this by itself.
CC: George’s paint is a little darker, mine is a little lighter. Let’s do another layer of paint
George: Look I blocked the dark part. It’s like a paint party here!

On the other side of the room, the sea turtles were having quite the aquatic adventure. Violet, Lochie and Marley started the morning at the light table where the baby sea turtles spent the morning hiding from sand predators.

Violet: Ooh! I found two baby sea turtles!
Lochie: Look, I have a baby sea turtle in my bucket.
Marley: Brigitte, I’ve got 5. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Lochie: Hey, baby sea turtle grab it! Maybe I need a sort of mirror? They’re ok, they can go back to the ocean. They survived, they just have a little pinch.
Brigitte: Why is the crab pinching the sea turtles?
Lochie: Because it’s their food.
Marley: Let’s hide them, where the crabs can’t find them.
Lochie: The sand is getting bigger and taller. And we put all the dangerous species in the bucket.
Marley: The ocean is not brown this (blue stone) can be the ocean
Lochie: Put them in the not dangerous ocean home, where they can grow up

We spent the rest of the day researching our new favorite vampire squid! We learned what they eat, where they live and how big they are. Then we took the time to measure ourselves against the 12 inch squid. Check out the blog tomorrow for more on that!
