Birthdays and Reflections

Our first 4-year-old! 

Happy birthday Jack!!  It was so wonderful to celebrate with  you today!  Thank you for sharing some fantastic photos of your favorite things!  Lisa, what a beautiful singing voice you have, and a fabulous addition to the slideshow!  We hope that you have had a great day of celebrating and enjoying your new Frozen/Star Wars things.  Jack, you've always made your interests and passions very clear, and we thank you for letting us celebrate them with you!  

Into the Unknown: The Nokk (Frozen II water horse)

Jack told us that he wanted us to think about the water horse from Frozen II.  We have learned that it has a name: The Nokk.  For more information you can read here: https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/The_Nokk

This seemed to be an exciting challenge for many of us.  We saw so many different ways to interpret the water horse/Frozen theme of our celebration!  You guys continue rise to the challenge of creativity and thoughtfulness.  

Drawing, watercolors, collections, collage, construction with found materials and food, water and ice, puppets, and more! What an inspiring morning of creativity!

We appreciate you taking the time to celebrate with each of our children during this time of online learning.  It has been so special to continue this beloved tradition with each of you.  This what makes our community special.  Thank you, thank you, thank you for showing up and showing out!

Looking behind and ahead 

In our small groups on 5.27 we started our conversation about memories of the Brown Room, and even looking forward to things that  might be exciting about moving to the Rainey Room! 

The voices of our children are most important to us.  What are they thinking about? What did this year mean to them? What will be exciting about moving to a new room? They are our purpose and inspiration! 

"What wa your favorite thing about the Brown Room?"
Reed:  "I think about "Sleeping Elephants, but my favorite animal is flamingos!" 
Cedar: "We love Brown Room so much. But I want to stick this on here for you guys. But I want to send something to you guys."
Cedar: "Jack. Building with Jack."
Audrey: "Hugging my teachers." 

Sylvie and Lucia found something in common! 

Giacomo, who seemed to remember our work with the maps, made a map for us to get to his house.  We definitely had to go over a bridge!  Thank you Giacomo for sharing this work with us! 

Lucia remembered our day with the photographer, and she shared our group photos!  What a special memory!  

Thank you all for sharing a beautiful year together!  It has been a joy and pleasure to make memories with you as a Brown Room family! 

Thursday snack and story time

What a lovely snack and story time!  Your table/picnic setups were well thought out and beautifully decorated.  Snack time has always been a great time for conversation, sharing ideas, discussing our work, reading stories, etc.  Thank you for taking the time to do that with us on this day.  Our time together is certainly cherished!
