Today we spent our last day enjoying a time honored favorite: watercoloring! After enjoying some books and jokes during morning meeting we shared brushes and pallets, creating rainbows, oceans, boats and flowers!

 | Today, Jack took the time to build a sandcastle that was later destroyed by a mystery creature! We used our best investigative skills to figure out who it might be. Lochie and Jack quickly found a mystery footprint which took up the majority of the detective work. Using pastels and paper, they shaded the shoe imprints and took it around to everyone they could find to see if they could make a match. Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite a Cinderella story, and we left the outdoor classroom still ruminating over who or what could have made the print and destroyed Jack’s castle! |
 | Lochie: I have a great idea, maybe we can give the paper to everyone. Jack: do you think it’s really a mysterious creature? Cc: it’s not my foot, George: it’s not me either! Lochie: guys put all your mysterious footprints there and maybe someone will know and they will take the picture, then we follow the prints! Jack: the mysterious footprint has a round part George: it’s definitely is a kid Cc: I think it’s Violet’s. Jack: the mysterious footprint does look like a curve and then a straight Line Lichee: let’s split up and look for clues! Jack: No, no, no, We need to look together to find the clues |

Today the first of our Rainey A cohort turned 5, can you believe it! Jack spent the day regaling us with stories of his birthday celebration this morning and all the plans for the Harry Potter themed celebration tonight! We even had Jack’s mom surprise us with a story from the Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets book during mystery reader today. Happy Birthday Jack, wishing you a magical 5th year!

Last week we worked on making clay vases using a flower pressing technique to decorate the outsides. Clay was rolled, flattened and pressed with images of plants, petals, leaves and stems before being cut and rolled into the vase shape. Over the weekend, they baked in the kiln to solidify the design and today we covered them in colored glazes.

Violet: I’m doing pink in the middle. George: I don’t want to paint inside, just green. Lochie: I’m adding blue around. I’ll just do a little bit of green! |  |

Field Trip to Feed the Ducks!
What a beautiful spring day! Elyse joined us on a trip down to the water. Friday we baked too many muffins and realized we could the ducks. We had so much feeding all the animals and enjoying the lovely weather.
