This morning we took some time during morning meeting to discuss our visual interpretations of the moon. Those who drew/ created pictures of the moon during the holiday had a chance to share what they had worked on with the group . 

Lochie:  I just want to share mine. Oh there’s the moon! So um this blue sky. The sky is like changing, yeah and this the moon. Mommy traced a plate because it's round like the moon. 

Elle: This is cardboard and this is playdough. Hmmm its about the moon. This one is so light and this one is white and black and this one is black. 
Brigitte: Why is the moon white and black?
Lochie: I have a question about it. So so one is all white, one is all black, one is white a lot, one is a lot is black, one is a lot is white and a little black. 
Brigitte: Do you know what the white part and the black part means?
Lochie: No we don’t, we’re not astronauts, we’re not on the moon. The moon knows what it means but we don’t

​Violet: The moon was on my first birthday. It was pink!
Elena: How did you make this?
Violet: A pink crayon

As Lochie pointed out that we aren’t astronauts and and we haven’t had a close up picture of the moon, we took some time to look at some images taken by NASA satellites to learn more about the surface of the moon.

Elena: Is there anything you notice about these images of the lunar surface?
CC: It’s somehow a little bit black
George: Elle’s looks like that because it has white and black 
Jack:Hmmmm,  yeah kind of grey and white 

Tomorrow we will use some of what we learned during our paper exploration on Zoom to make our own lunar paper! Check back tomorrow for pictures :)
