That's my cubby bag... Where's my cubby bag?

Not all of last year's watercolor cubby bag tags have remained, and besides, this is a new school year. We're not in theBrown Room anymore! So we are bringing more color to our bags and identifiers in the form of decorative  and fun hand sewn tags. This work remains in progress.

What will you draw about Toad in the Brown Room?

SYLVIE: Mine is to draw a line and a person holding a line.
LUCIA;
I'm drawing an airplane. ... A line that connects from here to there.
CEDAR: A book. ... A line to go there.
AUDREY: Draw a line, what is the hallway from there to this side of the school.
GICACOMO: A poisonous frog.
JANE: Toad over there.
MAXON: I'm drawing Toad that he's not poisonous and in season, on a beach.
JANIE: My idea is frog- Mr. Toad, will be poisoned/poisonous.

FOLLOWING UP WITH THE DIDGERIDOO SOUND...

"I made the actual music. I need big markers. To make it, it has to be wide." -Giacomo
"I made a trail. Music comes out. There is a hole here. A hole here. It is blue. The music comes out. It's a special, special didgeridoo. Music comes out everywhere." -Cedar
Picture
"It sounds like uh... It sounds like a tiger that's raaaar! ... It's a didgeridoo. I drew the big sound of the didgeridoo" -Janie.
"This is  gray and then brown and then black and then green. This side (other side of paper)  green, gray, brown, and then purple. ... The sound the didgeridoo makes." -Audrey
"I made the sound. That's how it goes (directionally traces finger over her drawn lines). Look. ... I think I tell her (Janie) that it's like the sun.  Sometimes when I tell them that it is something else, I tell them that the music sounds like it. I tell her (Janie) that it sounded like the sun."  -Sylvie

HAVE A WONDERFUL THREE DAY WEEKEND!

SING ALONG IS HAPPENING ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13

Rainey Room A

Earlier this week, we took time to visit the rainbows in the hallway. We had all kinds of fun taking our rainbow portraits (which can be seen on our October 7th post). When Rainey Room B saw that we’d been visiting the Rainbow, they asked if we could do some work with them to support their own Rainbow explorations. So today we spent time discussing what makes a Rainbow.

CC: Rainbows are just made of colors.... red, and then orange and then yellow and then....
George: When it’s dark mines gonna have lights of black
Marley: First you need the rain then the sun

Elena: How can you catch a Rainbow?
George: Paper and Hands!
Violet: Wood and also rain and light and a telephone to talk.
George: I would do a magic word to see the rainbow
Jack: I would do knock knock jokes that would make a rainbow trap

At the end of our day we went on a Rainbow Hunt to find all the rainbows we could in school! Elle immediately noticed the rainbow kites hanging in the hallway and Marley was quick to point out the constellation of rainbow materials in the entryway. We finished our hunt outside where Brigitte and her magic prism dazzled us with rainbows on the bricks.
