Today the first of our Rainey A cohort turned 5, can you believe it! Jack spent the day regaling us with stories of his birthday celebration this morning and all the plans for the Harry Potter themed celebration tonight! We even had Jack’s mom surprise us with a story from the Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets book during mystery reader today. Happy Birthday Jack, wishing you a magical 5th year!

Last week we worked on making clay vases using a flower pressing technique to decorate the outsides. Clay was rolled, flattened and pressed with images of plants, petals, leaves and stems before being cut and rolled into the vase shape. Over the weekend, they baked in the kiln to solidify the design and today we covered them in colored glazes.

Lochie: I’m making green for the leaves. 
Elle: I did blue for my leaves
Lochie: What color should the shell be?
Marley: I’m not done yet, I’m just doing some dots. 
Violet: I’m doing pink in the middle. 
George: I don’t want to paint inside, just green. 
Lochie: I’m adding blue around. I’ll just do a little bit of green!
