​Happy Birthday George! Yesterday we celebrated George’s fourth birthday with birthday cake Oreos and a virtual visit from George's family. Four years old has never looked so green and so good :)

In our continued effort to explore the ocean through a variety of Reggio languages, today we embarked on weaving. While weaving with paper was certainly a popular exploration in the Fall, today we tried our hand at weaving with fabric. For some the difference in texture was immediately apparent.

CC: It makes a noise when you do the fabric that has holes when I go under. 
Lochie: Over, under and then you have to crush it up so you can fit more fabric. Look, I’m going over, under. The other weaving at home we didn’t crush because it wasn’t like this (fabric). 
CC: What about this blue? I’ve never tried this before. 
Jack: Sometimes I do it 2 pieces of fabric at a time so maybe that’s how I did it fast?

Through a process of weaving and “Crunching” as Lochie called it, we soon had six (Elle wants to do hers tomorrow) beautiful fabric oceans. For those attending Classroom Stories in person, these ocean explorations will be on display!


In other parts of the classroom, other children explored painting and drawing. Recently, the angler fish has become a popular character in our day and today Elle took time to draw him. 


Marley and George enjoyed collaborating on a painting together while Violet finished up her wire fish!

Elle: This is the mommy angler fish, she’s a little blue like the picture.
