Rainey A is Virtually Accomplished!

On Monday night we made the switch to virtual learning for the week. While it was a significantly different environment than the in-person one we’ve been thriving in, we still managed to accomplish some fantastic work. Drawing on our guidebook work , we focused the week on book building. We broke this into an exploration of paper which we broke down further in folding and weaving explorations. On our final day of virtual learning we used our folding to build our own books with the intention of sewing/weaving together a spine for our small books and the guidebook together, in person, next week.

We practiced two types of folds, a spiral fold and an accordion fold. 

With each of our online explorations, we also enjoyed at least two books and a song. Some of the books such as Book with No Pictures and Dragons Love Tacos were old favorites, but others like Bats at the Library and Library Mouse were new narratives offering all kinds of book building inspiration!

Next week we intend to pick right back up where we left off with our guidebooks. We also intend to start brainstorming for decorations and centerpieces for our Thanksgiving feast!
