Rainey A: Building for Friends

During a conversation on Monday, we watched a video of our Rainey Room B friends playing on one of the obstacle courses we created. As we watched the video, we discussed ways we could communicate with Rainey Room B about how to use the obstacle course. Jack suggested that we “give them extra materials, hard and soft” so Rainey Room B could add to the obstacle course and make it their own. In a similar fashion Lochie suggested “writing them a note” with instructions on how to use the materials.

Thus today we began our project of creating a material collection and guidebook for our obstacle course. Tentatively the guidebook will offer information on and reasoning for all of our material selections, and will give advice on directionalities and obstacle course additions.

Rainey B

Today was a wonderful day to give back to the St Johns Community. We continue to reconnect with our friends in Rainey Room A by sending messages while exploring our materials. We brought messages to their mailboxes so we could feel like a whole group again. Jenn helped us learn more about different types of glue and papers so that we could get the most out of our work. Our class can't wait for Rainey Room B to receive the messages we worked so hard on!

We continue to explore diversity and culture through music at snack. Today, Audrey suggested we listen to music from Venezuela, which we discovered was very different from the DC Go Go music we enjoyed yesterday. Now that we have explored multiple regions, it is becoming easier for us to notice instruments, tempo and energy in different types of music.

As the say wound down, we decided to read Rainey Room A's blog to see what kind of work they have been doing. We were so intrigued by the cake they had created. It was so nice to see what our friends have been working on.
