Working together on a birthday gift for CedarBefore school started, Cedar turned three. C.C. turned three over the weekend, and Lochie will have a birthday late this month. So, let the birthday gifts and celebrations soon begin! Every child will participate as part of a birthday committee for another child. The committees are pre-assigned. However, the participants will be fluid and flexible. We are working on Cedar's birthday first, and Lochie, C.C., and Giacomo have been asked to be on Cedar's committee. Since we started our creative brainstorming process, last week, others have joined along the way to help with Cedar's gift, including Audrey, Jack, Janie, Sylvie and Violet. Our intention is to select a language that is familiar to the children, to support making the gift for the birthday child and support extending their knowledge of the respective language. Already, the children have been exposed to photography with several experiences: photographs at the home visit, documentation in action throughout the day, introductions to the camera in preparation for class photos, the school photographer on photo day, taking turns using a camera, and more! Together, we will continue exploring photography! And we look forward to giving the gift. Working individually, but together, with watercolorsOur second time with watercolors and the children have made some beautiful work! A large piece of paper was offered for them to start. When they felt ready to paint on a smaller sized canvas, they could. The smaller watercolor will eventually become a cubby bag tag to help support the children in identifying their own cubby bag.
