Expanding our knowledge and work of paper:

As part of a continuous exploration of paper, we thought it fitting to expand our two-dimensional work of drawing and collage and introduce three-dimensional paper, by using corrugated cardboard. With this in mind our intention extends to using these pieces of corrugated cardboard for our decorative work beneath our school photos, above the mailboxes in the entry hall.

"Cardboard. And it looks like a beehive. ... Guys that make beehives they painted it yellow and the bees started making honey. Then put people poison on it just because they were afraid that bees would sting them when bees saw them and the bees thought the humans were going to hurt the bees." -Giacomo

"I like how it (the cardboard) does this (Lucia moves hands to show the flex)." -Lucia
We decided a fun first step would be to add color to our cardboard. The next step will be to fill the hollow spaces of the corrugated pattern, whether this be by crumpling paper or weaving paper strips through the holes. All four children, in attendance today, painted their piece of cardboard. The children will work on the next step tomorrow. Pictured below is Melanie's example.
