Reviewing Our Morning Meeting: What are Our Morning Meeting Instructions?

Do you know the word instruction?
What does instruction mean?

"Yeah. It means something that you like listen to. Like it tells you what you are supposed to do."  -Jack
"Like if you're building a house, instructions tell you what you are supposed to work on."  -Sylvie

Yes, what you are supposed to do and how you are supposed to do it.

So what are the instructions for morning meeting? What are we supposed to do and how do we do it?

Where does our morning meeting take place?

"In the Tucker Room."  -Lochie

Where in Tucker Room?
"On the nugget and around the green grass."  -CC

Do we make a triangle with our bodies?
"No a circle!"  -Lochie
"Or like a big rectangle."  -CC

What do we do to begin morning meeting?
"We go to the nugget and the green carpet. And we sit down."  -Lochie
"[We sit down] next to each other." -CC

What do we bring to morning meeting?
Ourselves. We bring our bodies  -said in agreement

Then what happens?
"We talk." -Sylvie

What is the first thing we say to each other?
"Good morning!" -all in chorus

Our Morning Meeting Discussion:

Take a minute and think about something you want to share about our rats or as you usually call it, the "rat problem."

"Um, so we took down the rat hospital...then rebuilding back the rat hospital in the white area and a dentist area in the black area, and the in the middle, a rat house." -Lochie
"They swim and climb. Some rats are pets."   -Nora
"We were trying to get the rats out of their holes."  -Lucia
"We put a leash on them and throw them out of the school."  -Nora
"They can bite through string."  -Lochie
"We cannot forget that rats can chew through bricks."  -Nora
"Because of their front teeth."  -Lochie
"Fairy rats."  -Violet
"They're good swimmers."  -Jack
"They're good climbers."  -Lucia
"Rats like cheese and trash."  -Marley
Any questions?
Joslin: Do rats sometimes live in holes in trees?
"They live in tunnels in underground caves." -Elle
Fletcher: Rats don't like cats.
Billy: Are rats and mice related?
Katherine: Do rats hunt or if they just eat things that are already dead?
If they go hunting, what do they go hunting for?
Sylvie: Garbage and food... trash
Loren: How long do rats live?
Tegan: Audrey said that rats teeth grow more every year.
Lochie: Some of their teeth get shorter because when they gnaw, some of their teeth get shaved off.
Lisa: I would like to know if there is a solution to the rat problem.
Nora: Well, I already told you that. So basically, we're going to... the way to get the rats out is to fill a cone with trash, from the trash can, put it at the rat holes. Then when we see a rat, we trap it in a cage... Then we walk it to the front and walk down the stairs and then we open it and let the rats walk out.
Lochie: We throw them out of the school, of course! (If we catch them.)
Jack: Well, we should like bring them far away from the school. Maybe somewhere where there is a lot of trash... So they won't want to come back.
Matt: How big can rats get?
Kim: How can we tell the difference between a male and female rat?
Laura: I want to know how many babies does a typical rat have?
Sylvie: The most they can have is ten.
Jack: The maximum.

What do we know about garbage cans and the rats?
"I heard Abby say that she found a rat in her garbage can."  -Lochie
"That's true, that's true. I also saw some. Well, it ran from the garbage can under the car."  -Jack
What do we know about the rat habitat?
"Some live in rainforests."  -Lochie
"And some live in buildings that no one lives in."  -Nora
"They have caves underground."  -Sylvie
"There was a rat in my garden." -Audrey
