Exploring the Colors of the Rainbow

10/13/2020

The children have repeatedly and excitedly noticed the rainbows in the room, on the floor, ceiling, and on each other.  There is much to be explored about the rainbows that are in our classroom, on most mornings! Establishing knowledge about color and  the colors of the rainbow will help to  guide  our exploration.
"If you mix all the colors together you make a rainbow."

Rainey Room

What a refreshing three day weekend! While we were happy for the extra day of rest, we certainly missed each other! We spent the morning catching up with our friends and sharing our favorite songs over the singalong. We led our friends in some classics like “I’m a nut” and “You are my sunshine” and then finished with a surprise french rendition of Twinkle Twinkle little star!

After singalong, several friends worked on rebuilding last weeks animal city that now includes a forest. Unfortunately, our “baby zebra” got lost in the forest, so most of the animal’s construction time was spent on a perilous rescue mission!

Some beads that are super small and can’t go down, so I have an idea if I don’t want to tie a knot I can just put this on the needle. It makes sure nothing falls off- Jack

Documenting our Obstacle Course Materials

Today we also took the time to discuss how and what to document for our guidebook. In our conversation, we spoke specifically about size and shapes of the materials that we could recreate in our documentations.

Talking about drawing our Obstacle Course Materials
Jack: I can draw a rectangle
George: Just a marker and make it a circle
Lochie (looking at the bench):  So it has two sides in front and two sides in the back. One in of front of the standing things and then tiny cracks
Jack (looking at the bridge): I would draw it like this, just straight lines (counting one straight line, two straight line…) Theres only seven straight lines!
CC (looking at a feather): Look at these straight lines out of a straight line
Lochie: A square wood, another square wood and a green tunnel in the middle
