Lots of fun learning happening today in the Rainey Room! Though there were many things going on, the two main areas of focus today were doctor play and creating drawings for the new Sing-a-long songbook. Some additional tools have been added to the doctor play area: scales and blood pressure monitors. The children have been exploring different diagnoses, noting them down and also treating the patients. We're measuring all the animals. One school-wide initiative this year is to revamp the song book used during Sing-a-longs. In addition to adding songs, children's drawings will be included. Today children set out to draw images to accompany certain songs. Palmer looked at a jingle bell instrument and drew a jingle bell (Jingle Bells), Alexandra drew monkeys jumping on the bed and Wolf B drew a lion (The Lion Sleeps Tonight), Grace drew a beaver (Beaver Song). Some friends joined the activity but opted to draw things unrelated to the song book. (hover on photos for some captions)
