Children explored the dark classroom with flashlights, headlamps and mirrors. We are observing carefully to find out what aspects of light and shadow are most interesting to them.
In the video, Lane and Cannon experiment with turning the flashlight on and off. Fletcher shines lights on the waterbottles. He also comments, "Look, it's dark in the train track. I'm gonna make this bright." Olivia, Maren and Evelyn try shining lights on one another. Emilia finds a bubble and says, "It doesn't even pop".
Emilia shines light on the airplanes.

Grace noticed Fletcher working hard to both cut and draw on his paper. She said, "He must did hard work for that."

At the end of our morning, the weather was still a little too wet to go outside. Instead, we had an indoor obstacle course. It felt great to let loose, move our bodies to the music, jump, hoola hoop, and even tumble. Notice in one portion of the video, Emilia, Evelyn and Grace jump in a line. They each practice patience as they wait for one another to jump in the right order.
