Connections and ReconnectionReconnecting with Friends We are approaching the end of our first full week back at school since being apart during our winter break! Although the children truly do adjust to being back at school with ease, there is a slight transitional period as we catch-up with friends and get back into the flow of our daily routine. We'd like to share some moments and explorations that have occurred over the past few days during this period of reconnecting with one another. CONNECTING THROUGH MATERIALS During our first days back in the classroom, children gravitated towards our construction area which provides a large space in which many children can simultaneously work with materials, share ideas, and collaborate. An ideal space for reconnecting! Introducing a new technique with a well known material : Paper! AND SHARING OUR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE WITH EACH OTHER.
As a reminder, you are always welcome to walk through the classroom with your child, talk with them about our current projections calendar, catch up on documentation around the school, and visit your child's portfolio during drop off time (9:00-9:15am). The children are so invested in their work and have such a strong awareness of the life of our classroom. We encourage you to take advantage of this time together in their space when you can! Over the past few days Lily, Remy, Frannie, and Lucas have all been particularly interested in pop-up work. If you are one of their grown-ups and have an upcoming moment to check out their work, ask them to show you some of these awesome creations and tell you about their process! Reconnecting with our EnvironmentCARING FOR OUR SPACES Home-School ConnectionsPARENT PARTNERSHIP We are so thrilled to welcome many you of as our mystery reader guests beginning now and continuing through April! Today, Melissa read two stories to us to begin our day - The Little Island by Margaret Wise Brown & Margaret's Unicorn by Briony May Smith. As you all know well, our very special group of children adore being read to and look forward to story read-aloud times as one of the most anticipated moments of our day. Thank you for volunteering your time to join us! Such a peaceful and engaged way to begin our day together! If you are still interested in signing up to be a mystery reader, we do have a couple spots available in March. If you know that you are scheduled to be an upcoming reader and want to check the list to see which books have already been brought in and read, we will keep this list updated on an ongoing basis for everyone to reference. AN UPCOMING OPPORTUNITY! We will be sending out some information in the near future about an upcoming field trip we are planning to take on Monday, January 30th.
If you have an open schedule that morning, this might be the perfect opportunity for you to join us :)
