Sharing about our Spring Break experiencesGathering together for the first time after many days apart, we reconnected with one another at Morning Meeting. Children shared the following memories from their time away from school: Jade spoke about crashing under the waves in Palm Beach and using a boogie board in the ocean. She also shared about learning how to dive into a swimming pool, which of course is different than swimming in the ocean. Capers wanted to tell everyone that he is moving to a new house and that he will have wallpaper in his bedroom. Remy met new friends over the break, including a new friend named Luke! At her Kindergarten playdate, she met children who she will share the same school with next year. She also plays tee-ball with some of these friends. Tee-ball is a new sport for her and she's learning to throw the ball into a net, hit the ball off the tee, and run to all of the bases. Cate celebrated her 6th birthday over the break. On her birthday she visited Dumbarton Oaks where she likes to look at the trees with flowers on them. Frannie was able to go to target not once, but two times during her break! She explained that her dad was away during the break because he was busy setting up her birthday at Sea Island. Hugh explained that his parents were away over break so he was able to spend time with his Nana and Pop Pop. When his parents came home they brought him a remote control race car which was very exciting. Luke was excited to share that the ice cream truck is back in his neighborhood and he ate ice cream from it twice during break. Once he had an ice cream sandwich and next time he had a green pop that tasted like orange. He also played video games about a monster truck and played a computer game that had Buzz Lightyear and Nemo in it. Lucas was really anticipating his spring break trip because he visited a high ropes course in Pennsylvania! He talked about doing the zip-line, having to wear a harness, and standing on a rope while using his hands to help him too. He also went to an ice cream store during his trip where they added chocolate chips and mint chips into his vanilla ice cream. Yummy! Michael went to state that had a hotel, for probably 11 nights he thinks. There was a waterslide outside and he played in the kids area. He explained that to go on the big slide you had to be 48 inches. Although he doesn't remember which state he visited, he knows it was a different one and not New York. Saully recalled visiting his grandparents where he plays all kinds of games with them, especially games with cars. In his grandparents basement he estimates that there are about one million toy cars in there. Jack went on a trip, but not to Hawaii. He explained that it was a different place, but he couldn't remember the name (Costa Rica) and it took a long time to get there. He took a big plane and one little plane to get to the city. He met a friend named Reiner and stayed at someone's house. He took a big boat, that he could sleep on, out to sea and used something very big to catch a mahi-mahi fish. Reiner had a shirt with lots of fish on it and it had a mahi-mahi fish on it too. Lily took a special trip with just her mom to a different place that had a pool. There was someone else there who she knows, but she can't remember their name. Like Cape, Lily is also moving into a new house and she will share a bedroom with her sister Caroline and they will have their own bunkbed! Caroline plans to sleep on the bottom bunk so Lily can have the top. ItalyWe had an excellent trip to Italy and are excited to share more about it with all of you at next weeks PTC meeting. On Tuesday, April 4 at 8:15 am in Blake Hall, the staff will have a chance to share images and highlights from our Study Tour with everyone who is able to attend. Children are more than welcome to join you as well. We hope to see you there!
