BIG Building!

On Tuesday, children built with an image projected on the shadow screen.  The construction crew wanted to use an image of Hogwarts in winter, and selected the image to the left.  Here's a sampling of the conversation as they worked.
Hugh - First we need some grass (as he places a piece of turf.)
Wilder - (Working on a tall tower) This can be the chimney.
Hugh - Don't forget about the train tracks for the Hogwarts Express.
Mimi - I like that castle.
Wilder - You know who are the baddest people in Hogwarts?  Malfoy and Snape.
Saul - (Referring to part of the building) This is the Hogwarts living room.
Ellie - It looks like a haunted house.
Wilder - Dobby gave Harry a hat for Christmas. Guess what?  Dobby got to work at Hogwarts.
Zari - (While adding blocks to the building) I hope it doesn't fall down!

On Wednesday, we built with vehicles and holiday lights.  Cal and Seon built a series of roads and bridges and filled them with vehicles.
   Seon - There's so many vehicles, I can't count!
Cal - Yeah, so much traffic.
Seon - Yeah, the blue car can't move!

Small Building

Amidst all this big building, small world has still been going strong.  The holiday theme has continued, although small world inhabitants also had to get their work done.  Cate's creature put out a "Do Not Disturb" sign, "Because we are having a special meeting and no one can disturb."    Familiar story lines were also part of small world this week.  Finlay told us the Grinch visited small world.
Finlay - The grinch came and stole all the presents, and just like in the story, he attended the feast and he turned good.
Cape - Yeah, his heart grew three sizes.

What is special about getting a message?
"It means someone loves us."
         Wilder

Message making has been popular all week.  Lucila, family members, and friends were the lucky recipients.

Small Sewing

On Wednesday, some children worked with small sewing hoops to create ornaments for their families.  Children at the sewing table also were able to watch some of the World Cup game.  Go France!!
