Today was Maisie's first day! She started the day by opening her place card that Lily had started decorating last week.  She and Lily also set the table together today! Welcome Maisie!

Hugh and Tommy have been working enthusiastically on pages for a book about streets in a city.  Today, they presented their work to the class, so that we would all have an idea what was going on.  The presentation went something like this:
Hugh - My Main Street City fire engine.  It's not a usual city, it's on mountains.  So the fire engines have these special tires to grip the mountains.
Tommy - You can see the fire .  The fire came out of a really, really, really fast car.
Hugh - We have been following a projector of down town DC.... a major city.  You know I told you about the fire engines.  The cars have to have grip, too.  Most of the cars are jeeps or SUVs.  Not Porsches.
Lily - Are you going to tell us about the rain?
Tommy - you know it rained for 40 days, 40 hundred days.  It (the rain) starts on this page.  It (the city) is called "Main Street City.

Grace had  recently worked on a city page, and today she created another one that featured two ponds: a rainbow pond and a blue pond.  She didn't think her city work would be part of the book that Tommy and Hugh are making.
Grace - This is a different city and there are no cars.  It's called Art Cart.  It's a new city, guys.
Louise and Lou Lou were also energetically drawing a city today.
Louise - This is our city.
Lou Lou - This is fire coming out of the city.
Louise - And this is the smoke coming out.

Grace, Lou, Lou, and Louise also presented their ideas to the group.  Some edits were made during the presentations.  For example, Louise and Lou Lou added kitties and volcanoes to their city.  We're looking forward to more explorations of these intriguing locations!

Our largest KW group (8 children!) kept busy throughout the afternoon.  We were pleased that the rain stopped enough for us to get outside.  Children also spent time making intricate messages for some of their favorite people.  Tomorrow morning you can check to see who has a very full mailbox!
