"We're just practicing, so it's okay if we get it wrong" Joslin, The Birthday Girl
Today was the day to begin putting together the shadow ballet. Before we started the multi-step process, Joslin reassured the group that whatever happened was going to be just fine. Her teachers felt reassured as well. There was exuberant dancing and many musical selections. However, there's a lot more to our ballet than just the dancing (and indeed, not everyone chose to dance). There were a lot of moving pieces, and we were thankful that Jen wanted to work with us on this project! Here's some of the ways that children participated in the process.

A Few More Dancing Photos
When she wasn't taking notes or photographs, Maren was a master at creating backgrounds on the light projector.
Finishing touches..... for today!
After dancing and documenting, the children reviewed the images and put them into i-movie. They worked on moving images around and adding a title and music. This work will continue tomorrow and possibly into next week.
Many thanks to the Nix family for providing a treat to celebrate Joslin's birthday. It was a great way to end our busy day!
