Finishing Up Project Work

Because it's our last week at camp, in addition to new explorations this week we will also be finishing up some previously started project work.

Clay Beads

Last week while working with clay, many of us created clay beads.
The beads dried, were fired in the kiln, and were ready to be personalized today!

We used acrylic paint to add a rainbow of colors to our beads.
Check out how our unique  individuality and creativity shines through these beautiful creations!
Those beads are so beautiful, CC! - Elle
I haven't painted in a long time, but I'm really good at it. - CC

If our beads are dry tomorrow, we will string them  into necklaces, bracelets, decorations, or a keychain (suggested by Elle).

Speaking of a rainbow of colors, please don't forget to send in a white article of clothing for our
tie-dyeing project this week.
We hope to start tomorrow!

Did anyone watch the Olympic Games over the weekend?

Throughout the day, a few children initiated discussions with one another about their observations while watching coverage of the Olympics at home.

I watched the gymnastics last night. - Audrey

I watched the long race. - Jack (recalling the triathlon)

I tried to watch fencing, but they weren't doing fencing. - Cape
I watched fencing too! - Frannie.
Did you know that fencing is fighting? - Finlay

This conversation sparked a dramatic play interest between pals Finlay and Capers.
They decided to dress up in their best fencing equipment.
