Continuing our work with ...

PAINT

​These are primary colors! - Aida

Today our painting provocation included:
Jars of tempera paint in primary colors (as well as white)
Eye Droppers
Pipettes
Canvases 
Swirling Sticks


​Canvases are cool because they don’t soak through.

You know what I noticed? When you put the (white) paint on it (the blue paint), it (the white paint) shrinks. - Nora

I want to do like Nora. How did you make the blue lighter, Nora? - Aida


Well, I put white on top of the blue and used the scratchy thing to mix it. - Nora

It was evident that we were intrigued by the color mixing aspect of this painting exploration! 

Children observed how the properties of the paint continued to change with the addition of new colors, layering the paints, and using additional tools to blend the colors together. 
We will continue exploring the technique of color mixing to wrap up our week tomorrow!
