Coil Pots, A Farm, and Crocodiles
Continuing our work with clay.
Today, we learned new techniques to make "Coil Pots"!
That's a good coil, Nora!! - Roman
Once it's finished, what could a coil pot be used for?
Here were some of our ideas:
Mom's jewelry, or maybe rocks, or crayons! - Nora
Money - Sylvie
A plant - Aida
Coins - Jade
Buttons for my clothes. - Roman
In our building/construction area, more work with blocks and train tracks continued. This seems to be a favorite area for many of us to spend our work/play time!
There was also a new idea for a project! Jade and Sylvie decided to make a "house for animals" (Sylvie) or "a ranch" (Jade).
There's just grass (at the farm/ranch). - Jade
Here is a conversation that occurred outside today where a group of children (Jade, Mack, Arthur, and Luke) were imagining and acting out a very exciting dramatic play scenario!
There are crocodiles in the boat! (All)
Jade: Turn the boat, turn the boat!
Get in the boat! Let's swim away from the crocodile!
Jade: let me check this sail for a minute. It's a ship, not a boat. A ship.
Mack: this alligator is crying.
Jade: because we are swimming away and they want to eat us!
Jade: let me check the tadpoles
Mack: check the tadpoles!
Arthur: they're turning into frogs. They have legs now. They're going to eat the crocodiles.
Jade: (to the tadpoles) send them (crocodiles) away!
Some confusion about who is going to eat the crocodiles.
Rachel: YOU are going to eat the crocodiles?!
Arthur: I'm not, that sounds gross.
Mack: the alligators are having tea in the water. Because they're underwater. With sugar.
Also, we have a new mud kitchen!
