We've reached the end of our clay beads project! It began by carefully forming beads from clay. After the drying and firing process, the children were able to paint their beads. And today, the children strung their beads into necklaces!
There was only one decision left...
Who will wear the necklace??
My lovie - Audrey, Lucas, Nora, Jack, Aida, Frannie
Me - Fawzia, CC, Violet, Remy
Maisie - Finlay
We'll have to wait and see to hear what Sylvie, Maxon, Elle, and Cape decide to do with their necklaces.
Also in the studio, we began our exploration of hand sewing. Children had the opportunity to sew on a frame, adding beads, pieces of beautiful fabric, and buttons.
Some thoughts on sewing:
I'm doing what Sam taught me. I'm putting this (thread) through the second button hole. - Aida (using Sam's tips for making the button stay on the fabric.)
I'm going to put it in my room because it's so beautiful! - Remy
I'm putting mine in my mom and dad's room. - CC
In the Outdoor Classroom
We fell victim to the mercies of the postal system today... Our package did not arrive in time for us to tie-dye! We hope to get started tomorrow, so come dressed to get messy! Even though we weren't able to tie-dye, we still made the most of our time outside.
See you tomorrow for our last WATER DAY!!
