Explorers - Friday, July 16th

A Fun-Filled Friday

Explorers had a busy Friday! In the morning we began to "grout" our mosaics - the final step in our weeklong exploration of mosaics. We also enjoyed "tape painting," where the children explored how tape can be used to create sections and designs on paintings. Some children also spent time working with buttons: They had fun gluing buttons to paper to create pictures and designs, as well as wrapping buttons around wire to create "flowers."

In the afternoon, we settled down for story time and some jewelry making. We also did some prepping for an exciting upcoming project in paper making!

Tape Painting

While attempting to create more circular shapes and letters, the children soon figured out that the big tape made round designs difficult. The little tape, on the other hand, worked very well for that! As it turned out, the big tape worked much better for straight lines.

Button Art

Fletcher and Coco enjoyed mixing different types of glue during button art.

"What happens when you mix that one and that one together?" - Fletcher

Caleb's Lightsaber

Caleb enjoyed working with Will today to finish his lightsaber, a project the two of them have been working on together for several days. They used bamboo, a candlestick, epoxy, and red light gel.
