Explorers - Monday, July 19th

Today Explorers made paper! After soaking paper strips in water over the weekend, we used a blender to create a paper paste, and then pressed the paste into sheets on screens. The children particularly enjoyed mixing different colors to create designs on their paper, some making sky- and dinosaur-themed paper.

While not making paper, Explorers enjoyed painting keys for an upcoming wind chime project, creating lightsabers with Jordan, and continuing last week's "tape painting."

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... Explorers made lightsabers!

Several friends dedicated themselves to creating lightsabers of various colors and sizes today, yielding some very cool new toys!

"I guess the master of making lightsabers is Tegan. She figured out how to make all the buttons." - Abby

Key Painting

In preparation for our upcoming wind chime project, we painted keys today. Designs included a watermelon, a cat, a butterfly, and a "tie-dyed" key.

More Tape Painting

After a few days of practice, Explorers have become quite skilled at using tape to create designs on their paintings! This has become one of our group's favorite activities.
