Hands on Exploration

Clay
Today we worked with an all-time favorite material: clay! From mugs, to tea cups, to bowls, to a clay penguin, Explorers created many masterpieces that are now ready to be fired in the kiln.

The children particularly enjoyed experimenting with water to see how it could alter the texture of the clay.

Fletcher enjoyed creating a lever to lift his clay planet.
"Here's a way to give my planet a lift... This is how to launch it into space." - Fletcher
"This clay is so stiff that I feel like we                          "It's too thick." - Dagny                                             "Feet, look!" - Yoyo

Wind Chimes
Today, in addition to painting keys, we painted wooden dowels - the next step in the creation of our wind chimes.

Sewing
Today several friends took to sewing, both by hand and with a sewing machine. They enjoyed experimenting with different kinds of stitches and fabrics.
