When Paint and Politics Collide

Picture
Do you think this looks like my skin color? - Maren
A funny thing happened on the way to paint. It started with an argument as we tried to paint what friendship looked like.
"Thats the paint for skin" - Palmer
"No, that's not it! You can use any color you want!" - Maren
"Is that the right color?" - Jordan
"This color looks like me but it doesn't look like Jordan" - Emelia

Emelia decided the only way to tell if it was the right pigment was to put it on our skin to test. So we tried Jordan's skin, then Emelia's, then Maren's and finally Sara's. The children realized there were a lot of differences between all of us. Most importantly, the children decided to make several different skin color paints so everyone could paint themselves.

"Do you think that looks like you?" - Sara
"No. Maybe it needs more yellow?" - Maren
"Have you tried adding this 'peach' paint? - Jordan
"Hmmmm, that's better!" - Maren
"This looks like Jordan" - Palmer
"Are you sure?" - Jordan
"No thats too green. You're not a Ninja Turtle" - Palmer

By popular demand, we decided to sew. It had so much fun adding all sorts of materials to our works.
