Our last WATER DAY

Today we enjoyed our last water day for Session II of summer camp! Especially Skye enjoyed running through the sprinklers. Virginia, Fay and Whit were busy cleaning the construction vehicles in our car wash area and Ragnar experimented with catching water in small and large buckets from the sprinklers and water slide.

CLAY
As we are reflecting on our time at summer camp, we continue to revisit some of our favorite explorations this week. Today we focused on CLAY! While some friends worked with clay for the first time today, Ramsey, Fay and Soren used glaze to finish up previously fired clay projects. The pink glaze will turn transparent in the next kiln firing.

"You have to cut it like this. And then you need to hammer it. I'm gonna cut it right here so it turns into a bottom. It's a monster in a bottom. It's not a monster. I think it might be sculpture. Watch it!" - Virginia

Virginia experimented with rolling small amount of clay between her palms to create small balls. She then continued to flatten them with a mallet and stacked them on top of each other.

"I'm rolling it with my hand. I did it!" - Virginia
