We had the wonderful opportunity to join both Rainey Room pods via zoom to work with clay. Sylvie, Audrey, and the rest of us. Do you see what we put on the table? - Melanie [child answers] Yeah, they look like people, right? So, we are going to work today on making a person; the form of a person. In Rainey Room B we talked about body parts. RRB, what parts does a person have? - Melanie [child] Arms, head, neck…knee So we were thinking that with all of our clay knowledge about coiling and rolling, do you think we can make a person? - Melanie Giacomo, what was your idea of who you are going to make? - Melanie “A friend.” - Giacomo Melanie, I’m not sure how I’m going to add a torso to your legs. - Elyse Sylvie and Audrey, do you have any ideas about how Elyse can add a torso, a body, to my legs? - Melanie I have her legs [holds them up]. How do I attach her body? - Elyse “You just have to stick it on like I did when I sticked you when you were a baby on top of the turtle.” - Sylvie Oh, Sylvie has a good pounding tool. Does that make a good texture Sylvie? “Yeah, it makes it flatter.” - Sylvie [Katie] Do you want to tell Jen your secret? “There’s a toothbrush inside there.” - Sylvie [Katie] It’s a clothespin. During our call, Janie brought up the conversation about why we have two Rainey Rooms.
