The Virtual Classroom

Thanksgiving Feast Wrapping Inspiration

11/16/2020

As we began to think about preparing for the Thanksgiving Feast, we decided to collaborate with the Brown Room and Rainey Rooms who were represented in the virtual classroom at that time.
Jen introduced me to this artist, and his work includes a lot of wrapping. He wrapped statues, trees, and even buildings. Take some time to look at his work on his website (I recommend "Realized Projects" and "Works in Process"). Do you see how he took time to plan his work? He used drawing tools to plan his project, and he often used a wide variety of tools (pencils, charcoal, pastels, crayons, and wax crayons). He also did mixed media plans that included his drawing tools, but also twine, photographs, maps, fabric samples, tape, twine, paint, and more. How can we use some of these materials to make our own plans before we wrap our branches, or before we begin any project? I'll post some additional photos from his process.
